Updated image briefing

Posted in SitesPlus Developments, SitesPlus news by sp07 on June 2, 2009

We’ve updated our briefing that deals with images http://www.sitesplus.co.uk/briefings/3_images_and_downloads.pdf

We’ve updated it with instructions on cropping and re-sizing using the new picnik software. We think this is the best image manipulation software out there in the market, and it’s free!

You do need Flash installed on your computer to use it though. But don’t worry, most people have that pre-installed now.

This guide will help you to painlessly upload your own website images. If you do get stuck, remember we’re on hand to help. Email us support@sitesplus.co.uk

Flat rate post and packaging option in SitesPlus Shopping catalogue

Posted in SitesPlus Developments by sp07 on December 4, 2008

Flat-rate postage and packing

There are now 2 ways to charge postage and packing to your customers on your SitesPlus website.

1. Postage per item – to do this simply add postage to every item you input into the catalogue

2. Flat-rate postage per order – automatically adds a flat-rate postage charge to the total order value, regardless of the number of items purchased.

Flat-rate postage per order

This flat-rate charge will be added at the checkout page, rather than shown on every item.

If you are using this flat rate, make sure you are not charging post and packaging on individual items.

You might want to include a comment in your introductory paragraph explaining the flat rate charge for postage and packing.

Shopping Cart Developments

Posted in SitesPlus Developments, Uncategorized by sp07 on May 30, 2008
Thanks for your feedback, as ever you have been conscientiously letting us know which improvments you’d like to see on the SitesPlus shopping cart. We’re in the middle of creating a development plan which will include many of your suggestions.

In the mean time we’ve added a new ‘view your basket’ button to all the sites that sell. This will allow your buyers to skip from the catalogue pages to their shopping cart mush easier than before.

As always – let us know what you think.

New Catalogue and shopping cart

Posted in SitesPlus Developments, Uncategorized by sp07 on April 22, 2008
Important news! We’ve installed the new SitesPlus Catalogue and Shopping Cart!

What you will see
If you use the products and services pages to sell online or to display listed items, you’ll notice several
changes.

Horizontal layout – in line with current best practice, all items will be displayed
horizontally in one column. This means you can display more
text against each item and has also enabled us to improve the general
layout.

Brief and full product descriptions – gives you more control over the text displayed against
listed items You will be able to enter a brief description and a separate full description for each item, viewable on selecting the More button.

Image enlargement – improved display of the larger versions of product images.
It’s advisable to upload an enlarged product image wherever
possible.

Fully featured shopping cart – allows multiple purchase of the same or different items integrated
with payment via PayPal.

Administering the new pages
Your existing products and services pages now form your catalogue. You’ll notice the products and services buttons have disappeared from the left-hand menu in your adminstration system and have been replaced by a new catalogue button. Don’t worry! They are still there!
Click on Catalogue to see a summary of the catalogue pages we used to call Products and Services and download the briefing which will guide you through the new system.
For instance, to edit items, click on View items, next to the category or page in which you placed the item, then click edit next to the item name and make your changes.

The change also allows you to add new catalogue pages on request.

We hope you’ll find the changes a significant improvement. Please let us know straightaway if you
experience any hitches and, finally, don’t forget to let us know what you think of the new system!

Services Page Image enlargement

Posted in SitesPlus Developments, Uncategorized by sp07 on November 20, 2007

Kate says:
Good news, the services page now displays the ‘enlarge image’ option too. So you can click on the image to see a bigger picture, as you can in the products page.

To use this feature save your services image twice, once as a small image about 90 pixels high and again as a larger image up to 500 pixels high. Upload them in the usual way. Call or email us if you have any queries.
